Back to Bairnsdale yet again

Hello all.

Just a couple of hours ago we arrived back in Bairnsdale and have set up once again on Justin and Lee's front lawn. They are not here at the moment but we expect them home shortly. They are not expecting us to be here till Monday or Tuesday. We are a little early

We have been off the internet for the past week as our modem that we plug in the side of the computer fried on us. It warped and melted and obviously wouldn't let us connect. It has been quite frustrasting trying to get a new one. When Ken contacted bigpond they said it would take three working days to have it sent to Nan and Norm's address. Three working days later still no parcel. So when Ken rang to find out why he's told it has not been orderd let alone sent. So new arrangements had to be made. we stll don't have it but hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

We had just one outing planned whilst we were in Sydney and that was to go into the city via the boat that leaves from Parramatta and goes into Circular Quay, then take the ferry over to Manly then turn around and come back. We were going with Barry, a long time friend of Kens. But wouldn't you know it when we woke up it was raining and I mean raining, bucket loads so we cancelled out. It fined up for a while in the middle of the day and ended the same way it started and poured once again in the afternoon.

We also took a drive up to a place called Dungog, near Newcastle to look at a Jeep that interested Ken. Dungog turned out to be a really nice small town and no doubt drew lots of people sightseeing on weekends. Fr those who know Gippsland it was a lot like Yarram. I would love to go back there again for a longer stay and take a look at Newcastle and Maitland.

On the way home we stayed one night at spot just out of Braidwood that we had stopped at once before. Our second stop was at Mystery Bay. There was a large camping ground there but we decided not to stay there as Ken spoke to a group of people setting up camp. They were expecting about 30 to 40 men for the weekend. Ken thought the set up team were already half plastered by the number of empty cans they had laying about.

From a distance we had seen a couple of caravans parked on the beach and we decided to try and find out how they got there. It turned out they weren't on the beach but parked in a cul de sac that led you straight onto the beach. We parked there with them for the night and lay in bed listening to the sound of the ocean lapping at the sure. The pics of the ocean and the beach are taken there.

We will stay here in Bairnsdale for a few days and then go to Sale from here ready for Ken to have the proceedures done on the 2nd June.

With that I shall say goodbye for now.

Love to all

orange

Greetings

Just a short post to say we are still in Orange with Mum and Dad. We have had a lovely time so far and up till today the weather has been lovely. Beautifull warm sunny days thus far but that is about to change tomorrow. We are predicted to have temperatures tomorrow of minus 4 through to 8 or 9 degrees. Cold on the fingers and toes.

Today we went for a drive to Macquarrie Woods camp site and surprise, surprise it turns out to be the largest and the best free spot we have ever come across. This site is only about 26klms out of Orange and a couple of klms on a dirt road. At a rough guess the site would span an area of close to 10 acres. There were flushing toilets, tankwater, picnic tables, fire places and we think wood available. Plus there were ponds of water to park beside if you liked to be near water. The ponds had goldfish that were huge, bigger than I've ever seen.

We intend to make our way to Sydney and catch up with Ken's sister and their family members.

Shall catch up again soon

Love Ken and Lyn

Gooloogong

Dear one and all

First let me catch up and tell you about the pics on the previous post. The five story ruins are from a five story building that once was the Lincolns Oakbank Brewery found at the free park spot we stopped at on the bank of a river at Narandera. We also have a picture of a tree which almost has the largest trunk that I have ever seen. The only other one I have ever seen is a tree over in WA where you can park a car in it. Obviously the trunk on that one is hollowed out, whereas this one isn't. If I spread my arms out as wide as possible I wouldn't even go close to spaning half of the tree.

One of the pics is of our new van that we bought when we were in Naracourt. We continue to look at vans just for interests sake and so far we have seen nothing that catches our eye. We drove to Cowra yesterday and had a walk around the caravan yard there and they have a huge range of vans but non were better than what we have so I left a happy chappy.

And the last two pics were taken at Victoria Lake Caravan Park at Shepp. That was our view from the spot where our van was stored while we went to Sale. Pretty nice, don't you think.

When we left the park to go to Sale we were told there was a large group booking for the long weekend and then when we came back there was a large group of vans and motor homes toward the back of the park. All during that week there were national BMX trials happening and after these, whoever won the trails would be off overseas for the world titles. Obviously, there were kids on bikes and kids on scooters everywhere It made the park much busier but it didn't spoil our time there at all

Where are we now? We are at Gooloogong a small country town near Cowra, Forbes and or Grenfell depending which way you come in to it. This free park, again is an old caravan park which has free power, limited to four vans only. So it is a bit of a pot luck if there's a vacant point. Also there are free showers, badly in need of a reno. Never the less a hot shower is a hot shower. They ask you to stay no longer than three nights but I'm sure there are those who stay longer (like the people who are parked near us)

Just on the edge of town their is a sign which says "home of the first Anglican Church" with an arrow poointing out the direction to follow So yesterday we went looking for it expecting to find ruins but there was nothing at all to suggest where it was other than a single old grave site with a fence around it. In town, though, their are ruins of an old church site but it doesn't say which religion so photoes are of the one in town.

Late yesterday, somewhere in town we could here a P.A. system. There were lots of yells and clapping so we thought it must have been locals returning from a big day out. Then a little later we could hear all the revelry over in the pub which is just on the diagonal corner where our vans are parked. So while all the adults were whooping it up in the pub all the kids were whooping it up in the park which happens to be about 20 metres away from our van. Sometimes, of an evening, we climb into bed to watch TV and read. I said to Ken "we're getting old if we are in bed and the kids are running around crazy outside." I went to sleep OK but Ken said the noise didn't stop till about midnight.

This morning we are off to Orange to stay with Mum and Dad, and then on to Sydney to see Ken's family there.

Love too all

once again

Dear family and friends

Since my last update to the blog we have spent two nights with Nathan, Sharon and Roman, we've been to Sale for Ken's doctor's appointment and travelled to Bairnsdale for some lovely family time with Justin, Lee and the kids. Roman is growing so much especially now he can toilet himself in the day. And his big news was that he now sleeps in a big boy bed. Natalya and Lachlan too are growing up. Natalya has just had her 9th birthday and. One of us is getting old and I don't think it is Natalya. Although it is only a matter of a few weeks since we have seen them Lachlan seems to have grown taller. They are all wonderful Kids.

We have to postpone our migration north until mid June as Ken will have to have a couple of day proceedures at the Sale Hospital early in June. He's really looking forward to that.

Our plans now for the next 4 weeks will be to visit my Mum and Dad as Mum's birthday and Mother's Day both fall in early May, though they never fall on the same day.

Otherwise we will just meander around, but not go too far, till we have to come back to Sale.

We are staying at Shepparton for another night as the beeping in the car is still happening and the SsangYong dealer wants to put a diode in and try to bypass the sensor that keeps setting off the beeping. It doesn't affect the working 0f the car, it would just be nice for it to stop going off every 20 minutes or so.

Almost every time we go to take a photo our camera battery is flat and we have missed out on some lovely photoes so we have bought a new one on Ebay and when we went through Melbourne we stopped at Coburg to pick the new one up (well not new, new just new for us).

I'm about to sit outside and have a play with it. We have a lovely aspect over the small part of Lake Victoria that has water in it. They are doing a lot of work enlarging the Lake and making it into a visitor friendly area.

And with that I shall say goodbye for now untill our next stop.

With love and best wishes

Ken and Lyn

It is time to say Goodbye
