Dear family and friends
I know it has been quite a while since I last blogged but there hasn't really been a lot to blog about concerning our travels. We seem to have one delay after another and our date of departure gets moved back. It would seem God does not want us to go up north yet. We just don't know why and it is getting quite frustrating.
Following Ken's surgery we returned to Bairnsdale and set up camp again on Justin's front lawn. We had a follow up visit to Ken's doctor a week after his procedures which gave him the all clear so long as his next blood test was OK.
Ironically when Ken was having his procedures done I was sent one of the bowel cancer screen tests to do. My GP rang to say I had a double positive for blood and so now I have to have the same two proceedures done as Ken. Personally I have no signs or symptons of anything nasty lerking around in my bowel so also expect an all clear but the reality is it should not be put off as our health and wellbeing is paramount to enjoying and relaxing on our holiday.
Thus more delay as we wait for my date (7-7) to come around plus the follow up visit.
In the mean time we have spent a few more days in Melbourne firstly with Nath, Sharon and Roman and then with Leanne and Tim and spending some time with Dallas as well.
Dallas has changed jobs and is no longer with Baker's Delight. I can't tell you the name of his new employer as I can't remember who it is. It has more responsibility than the previous job and the pay packet to match it. I know they outsource their people to different work sites trouble shooting and redesigning computer operating systems.
Tim and Leanne are both well also. Work also keeps them both very busy and house renovations get sidelined to weekends only now that the winter weather has set in. Tim is about to begin painting the living area soon and when he does all the fiddly time consuming preparation work will all come together. Can't wait to see it. The next big jobs are an air conditioner, sanding floors, and a kitchen.
Nathan and Sharon are well also as is Roman who is an absolute delight (no I am NOT biased)
He is a very clever little fellow and communicates far in advance of his age. His vocabulary is immense and he says words that are far in advance of his not yet 3 years as is his counting and word recognition. Following his blog allows us to hear the many priceless and comical things he says and does. One day when he is older he's going to blush when his girlfriend reads his blog.
All in all its good to catch up with the kids as often as we do and we are blessed to see them happy and settled
Justin and Lee we see regularly. And seeing we have been living on their front lawn we see them all the time. I reckon when they said we were welcome to stay with them before we head off they never thought we would still be there three months later. Even Barb and Laurie (Lee's mum and dad) have managed to be on the road before us. We waved them off and said to each other "That should be us". Eventually it will be us if we wait patiently.
Natalya and Lachlan are lovely children and growing up way too fast. Natalya is nine and Lachlan is now seven. Justin and Lee have recently bought a property of 155 acres just out of town and they are planning to build a house on it. It is hilly and as a result of the height they have some spectacular scenery including the lakes area and beautiful pasture land. Natalya and Lachlan each have a quad bike to ride on whenever they go out to their farm. Natalya is learning to play the piano and she has surprised me how much she has learnt since she started her classes at school. Natalya is teaching Lachlan what she knows and he shows an interest in it also.
We are house sitting at the moment and dog sitting. Toby's new owners have gone on a week holiday up to Merimbula and their house sitter was unable to make it so we got an urgent call to ask if we could come out to look after him. We have the kids with us overnight and they have had a good day playing outside with the dog and the sheep. Craig and Michelle live on a couple of acres out at Nicholson so its enough to keep the kids happy exploring.
Tomorrow we are going to Sommerville in Melbourne. Ken has bought a larger generator to handle the air con in the van. This one is a 2.4 KVA. We have just sold one of our smaller generators and Ken was happy with his price.
We are looking at yet another van. This one has a shower and toilet. We have spent too many cold winter nights traipsing off to the shower blocks in the caravan parks. This one is a 2002 Coromal. It is having a complete new left hand side with a full roll out awning put on it as its previous owner caught the roll out awning on something and wrecked it. They are going to detail it and we get first option on purchasing it. Our current Evernew weighs the same as this one even though the Coromal is a good 2ft longer. So we will have the added length but no more weight.
That's about it for now. shall try to be more regular at blogging
Lots of love to all
Lyn and Ken
