Yasi continued

Dear Family and Friends.

All is well with us at this stage (2pm Wed 2nd Feb). We have had yet another busy morning. By 7am Robin and Ken were out busy securing whatever they could. First off the carport that we are partially covered by has been tethered down with rope and cable to prevent it from being lifted off its posts. Then our caravan has now been anchored to the ground on all four sides by ropes and snatch straps. Robin has a large ship container on the property which has a lot of personal stuff in it and this too has been anchored to the ground with guy ropes etc.
We have emptied one small shed that Robin expects to lose and have tied it down as best he could in the hope that it won't be blown in the air and damage their neighbours place.

So far today the weather has been like any other day. We have seen sun, cloud, wind and rain.
The wind is spasmodic and blows up then settles down to a gentle breeze or complete calm. Once the cyclone hits the winds, according to radio and TV reports, could be up to 300 klms per hour. What does 200 - 300 klms per hour sound and look like? I don't know but we are about to find out.

So far the rain has been no more than a light shower which passes over very quickly. Radio reports say that we could get in the vicinity of 700 mls in the next 12 hours so to expect localised flooding.

As I said before the vehicles are in the big shed and in our car we have a couple of changes of clothing, food supplies to last us a few days, first aid kits, medications and some odds and ends.
In the van we have a couple of last minute bags to take with us if we have to leave here and seek shelter elsewhere.

There is nothing more we can do but stay as safe as we can. We have tried to cover all our bases and have every thing in place for all contingincies as much as we can.

At some time tonight we will loose contact but we will ring as soon as we are able to let you know we are all right.

I will try and blog again late this afternoon or early tonight if we can.

I have more pictures I want to show you so that is my next task.

Love to all and God Bless

Ken and Lyn

We now wait and PRAY.
